Allowed List |
| The
Allowed List is a list of all those email you always
want to receive, these mails are never filtered regardless
of content. This means if a colleague forwards you
advertising you normally would not receive, you do
receive it or if a friend send you sends you an email
containing banned words or phrases, you still receive
it. You will never miss an email from a sender on
this list.
Remember
you tell Spam Container™ who is allowed so that
you are in control.

Quarantine |
Not
all unknown mail is spam, it may be a new friend or
contact or someone you have missed on your allowed
list. So that you don't miss these mails Spam
Container™ has a quarantine folder
where unknown mails are placed. Opening this folder
shows you who sent the mail, the subject, the time
and date of quarantining and the mail's size.
You
may need to look at this mail before deciding if this
is good or bad mail, to do this Spam Container™
has a built in preview window in which you can can
read the mail, print it, ban it, allow it or just
trash it without changing your rules.

Why
is Spam Container™
Not a Plug In? |
|
Many
spam blockers are plug ins, so why not Spam
Container™?
If
Spam Container™ was a plug
in for Outlook Express and you used Outlook 2003,
Eudora, Thunderbird or The Bat you wouldn't be able
to use Spam Container™,
it's as simple as that.
If
multiple versions of Spam Container™
were available as plug ins for all the most popular
email systems they would all be different and not
the simple and secure solution to spam blocking you
need. Spam Container™ works
with all email systems and gives you complete control.

 |
Will
Spam Container™
Effect My Anti-Virus System? |
|
The
simple answer is NO.
Your
anti-virus system will still protect you from email
spread virus infection by scanning your emails as
they are collected by your email system.
Because
Spam Container™ prevents unknown
senders' emails from reaching your inbox many viruses
will never be opened.
This
means that not only are you no longer buried by an
ever increasing volume of spam you also remain virus
free with your favourite anti-virus system.

What
are SpamNet
Uploads? |
|
SpamNet
uploads
are submissions of lists of known spammers collected
by your Spam Container™ users.
These email addresses are automatically added for
inclusion into SpamNet
updates and shared with all Spam Container™
users.
No
personal information is submitted to SpamNet

|
Banned Lists |
|
There
are two Banned lists, the banned address list and the
banned words and phrase list.
Banned
Addresses
The banned address list is a list of known bad senders,
you will never receive an email from these senders in
your inbox, unless you explicitly allow the mail.
Remember
you tell Spam Container™ who is banned so that
you are in control.
more
about the Banned List >
Banned
Words and Phrases
The
banned words and phrase list is a list of words you
don't want in your inbox, such as "viagra".
If a friend sends you an email however the content is
not analyzed so they can safely email you about anything.
Remember
you tell Spam Container™ what is banned so that
you are in control.
more
about the Banned Words >
|
Trash |
All
known bad mail is sent to trash, but not deleted, this
means if you have a mistake in your banned lists you
can still get to your trashed mail.
As
with the quarantine folder you can preview trashed mail
with the Spam Container™ built
in preview window where the mail can be allowed, printed
or removed from your system.

Why
Does Spam Container™
Not Use Bayesian Filters? |
|
Many
spam blockers use Bayesian Statistics to automatically
detect spam before using your custom rules, so why not
Spam Container™?
Bayesian
Statistics are a set of rules that search through an
email's content looking for patterns that the application
designer has decided constitutes spam, many also remember
patterns in mail you have marked as spam. This no longer
works.
Spammers
are using techniques known as hash busting and snow
flaking which has rendered this type of intelligent
filtering at best redundant and at worst potentially
harmful to your spam blocking and anti-virus security.
Spammers now include large chunks of invisible text
or HTML tags to bypass and confuse Bayesian filters,
this means that spam can pass right through your filter
or it learns to ban ALL emails.
Spam
Container™ does not suffer from this
vulnerability because you create the rules, not the
program.

What
are SpamNet
Updates? |
|
SpamNet
updates
are lists of known spammers collected by SpamNet
and Spam Container™ users. These
email addresses are automatically searched for without
them being included into your banned list.
Some
addresses you may wish to receive from, to do this ensure
that they are included into your Allowed List, this
way they are never filtered.
